Copywriters are an uncommon breed of freelancer. We are not only experts in marketing but also human psychology. This allows us to market in an elegant and sophisticated manner.
We are good at many different things because we’re so used to it. That’s probably what your clients think.
You might be surprised to learn that the role of a writer can sometimes become hazy. Clients expect you to be a copywriter, then a content writer, and finally a marketing strategist.
Where do you draw the lines?
What jobs should a copywriter do?
The great thing about working as a copywriter for a freelance company is that you are free to offer what you want…or don’t!
To get my business off the ground, I offered services beyond copywriting. My agency only offers to copywrite and consult with clients.
While your ultimate goal may be to write documents for your clients and gain experience, you can also expand the scope of your work to build relationships with your clients and gain more experience.
In this article, I will describe the roles and responsibilities of a copywriter. I will also share the additional services you can offer as a freelance copywriter.
You can also earn more money by better serving your clients!

This TWO frequently asked questions are usually sent to me in my DMs, which are typically FULL with messages from members of my community.
People who aren’t yet copywriters often wonder what a copywriter does.
The second is from relatively new copywriters with clients who expect them to do everything. They’re unsure of what they should be doing.
If you are in either of these two categories, then please leave a comment below. This blog is dedicated to YOU.
Welcome to the team if you are new! I post a new blog on marketing, copywriting, or mindset every week. Please enter your email to receive more articles similar to this.
If you have ever wondered what a copywriter does or what services you can provide clients as a freelance copywriter, here are sixteen ways to start earning more money for your business.
If you’re a business owner looking to hire a copywriter, then I will share with you my strong>a href=”https://www.alexcattoni.com/cwjd”>Copywriter Job Description/a>/strong>–to do your search for. If you are a business owner looking to hire copywriters, I will share my job description to make your search seamless.
Copywriting Services
This first category represents the services I believe a copywriter should be providing. This is what savvy clients may expect from you.
Before you become overwhelmed by the list, remember that it’s YOUR copywriting company. You DO NOT HAVE to offer ALL of these assets if that’s not what you want.
You can use digital ads, such as those you see on Google and Facebook, or video ads, like the ones on YouTube. Or, you can print ads, like those you find in Newspapers or Flyers.
Digital ads are designed to generate a click. It’s important to remember that the headline and the first few sentences are the IMPORTANT things you should get right.
In the age of the scroll, you must master the art and craft of creating compelling hooks. The hook is the key to all great ads.
Email Marketing
It’s just what it sounds like. Sending emails to a subscriber list with the sole intention of advertising something is not a good email campaign.
As a copywriter, you can offer all these services to your clients, depending on their needs. They may request autoresponders, indoctrination emails, sales emails, content emails, affiliate emails, or re-engagement emails.
As a copywriter, your only job is to WRITE these emails. You don’t need to upload these emails to your client’s software to send them unless YOU WANT TO. This is something I’ve never done for a client. It’s too technical, and sending an email draft out to everyone would be a pain.
Landing Pages
This is a landing page, but it’s WAY shorter. It is used to generate leads. If the primary goal of your ad is to convert eyes into clicks, then the main objective of a landing is to increase the number of clicks. You want to inspire and motivate prospects to provide their contact information (usually first name and email address) in exchange for a “Free High-Value Promise,” more commonly known as a lead magnet.
Sales Pages
The BIG ONE. I call this page your Moneymaker because it’s not only the page that will make your clients more money in their business…
It’s not the page you’ll be paid the most to write, but the one YOU’LL get the most money for!
Psychology is the magic formula for converting prospects into paying clients. And major writing swagger is also important.
In my opinion, ALL content writers should master this skill. It’s what makes us different from other content creators.
Suppose you are a copywriter or a business owner looking to create a Sales Page with high conversion rates that will pay you and keep your clients and prospects coming to you for more …. And more. Check out my 5-Day Write & Ignite challenge, where I show you how to create the exact sales page formula I use in my multi-million launch.
Home pages & Website copy
This is what I call authority text or brand copy! Your brand message is more important than conversions on your homepage. You have to make an excellent first impression on your home page because it is the first thing people see when they visit your website. A Homepage aims to build trust, establish authority and provide the next steps.
